Arvid Lindblad Scored Formula 1 Points Before Even Obtaining a Driver’s License

Although it was his debut race and we didn’t expect much, Arvid managed to bring points to his team, finishing in 8th place and earning 4 points.

With that result, he became the third youngest points scorer in the history of Formula 1.

He is making history, yet he doesn’t have a driver’s license

You might wonder how that’s possible. Arvid Lindblad is not the only driver in Formula 1 history who didn’t have a road driver’s license when he made his debut and still achieved success on F1 tracks.

Max Verstappen also didn’t have a driver’s license when he debuted.

Not having a driver’s license is not a problem for racing on circuits because every driver must have an FIA Super Licence to compete in Formula 1.

This license is obtained by collecting points in lower racing categories (F2, F3), completing a required number of kilometers in an F1 car, and passing a test that covers all the rules.

The license is valid only for racing, not for public road traffic.

When it comes to F1 drivers who don’t have a road driver’s license, they are usually rookies who have been in the racing world since childhood and, due to a lack of time, simply haven’t had the chance to obtain a “regular” license yet.
